5 Tips for the Perfect Cheese board

It’s official, pumpkin (spice) season is over.

We had our first snowfall in Upstate NY and my kiddos were so excited dreaming about the endless snow playing possibilities like skiing, sledding, building snowmen, and making snow angels. My sisters are even asking about gift ideas for the kids this Christmas (sigh).

Whether you love the holidays…

…or they drive you crazy…

the holidays are here whether we like it or not!

I love the holidays, but I’m not falling head over heels like Vera Ellen in the .gif above.  I get a little overwhelmed with all the cooking, baking, shopping, decorating and endless tasks associated with the holidays; however, there are a few tricks and tips to deliver some stress-free holiday “wows”.

One of the easiest ways to steal the show this holiday season is with a well-crafted cheese board. On Wednesday, November 15th at 3:30PM, I’m joining Cabot Creamery and Weis Markets for a Facebook Live session about how to build an easy, nutritious, inexpensive yet impressive cheese board.

Until then, here are a few cheese board tips and tricks:

 1. Do Your Research

Start out by heading over to the Cabot Cheese’s website to learn how to build a perfect Cheese Board. This easy-to-follow guide will give you three simple steps that will make you feel and look like the hostess with the mostess.

2. Don’t have a Fancy Cheese Board? Don’t Worry!

Now that you know how to build a cheese board, I bet you’re thinking, “I don’t have any fancy boards for all that delicious, nutritious cheese!”

Don’t laugh, but I have the best and most affordable solution for you: brown painter’s paper from your local hardware store. It’s about $3 for 180 feet and you can find it in the painting section of Home Depot. It makes the perfect platter.

If you don’t want to use paper, watch the Facebook Live on November 15 at 3:30 PM and enter the sweepstakes – you can have the chance to win one of three (3) $20 gift cards to Weis Markets and a Cabot Cheese Cutting board and knife set. 3. Cheat with Cracker Cuts!

As a full time working momma of two boys, time is NOT on my side. I’ve become the queen of shortcuts in the kitchen. Cabot’s new Cracker Cuts are a great way to save time while entertaining during the holidays. Not only are these simply delicious, but they are packed with protein to help you feel full longer.

4. Add Fruits, Vegetables, and Dips!

To brighten up the colors on your cheese platter, add vibrant colored fruit and vegetables. Nothing goes better with fruits and vegetables then your favorite dairy delicious dip. If you are looking to trim calories from your holiday menu, a great place to start is by substituting Cabot Greek yogurt in place of sour cream and mayo in your favorite party dips and spreads. As a rich source of protein, Greek yogurt offers the creaminess you crave, without the added fat of more calorie-dense choices.

5. A Holiday Pinterest Wow!

We all have those Pinterest recipes that we pin and know we’ll never ever cook, but are super cute anyway. This recipe is super cute, super simple, AND you’ll actually make it! You’ll impress all of your guests with this Pinterest-inspired, super cute Turkey Cheeseboard:

For more information about crafting the perfect cheese board, don’t forget to login to Facebook to hear the experts weigh in Wednesday, November 15th at 3:30PM!

Oh, and since all I can think about is cheese right now, I’ll end this post with a silly joke …
